(KNSI) – The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office says there were at least five crashes within 90 minutes of each other this morning due to slick road conditions and zero visibility.

The sheriff’s office says two separate crashes happened in Dovre Township. One at 6:40 a.m., and the other at 6:58 a.m. Crash investigators say the vehicles were unable to stop at the stop sign and went into the ditch.

Just before 8:00, first responders were called to a single-vehicle crash where a driver lost control due to road conditions and hit the bridge at 15th Avenue Southeast over the Highway 23 bypass.

About 8:10, someone hit a mailbox in Green Lake Township, and about 15 minutes later, another crash, which police attribute to reduced visibility, happened in Lake Andrew Township.

The National Weather Service says the dense fog is not widespread, so conditions can change quickly if you’re out driving. The Minnesota State Patrol says drivers should use their headlights, slow down and allow plenty of following distance.
