(KNSI) — A southern Minnesota man is being charged with assault after allegedly attacking an ER nurse at St. Cloud Hospital.
Sunday, police say they were called to the hospital after 26-year-old Stephen Dudley of Kilkenny was found outside the Red Carpet Nightclub with his pants around his ankles, bleeding from his forehead. The criminal complaint says Dudley appeared to be under the influence at the time.
He was taken to the hospital to get help when he allegedly lunged at an emergency room nurse trying to get his vitals. According to the criminal complaint, Dudley wrapped his hands around the nurse’s neck and pushed her against a wall, causing her to hit her head against some equipment.
Dudley was charged with fourth-degree assault of hospital emergency personnel and fifth-degree assault.
Dudley makes his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
It’s the second time this month an ER nurse has been attacked at St. Cloud Hospital.
October 13th, 18-year-old Matthew Colombo allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old patient and punched a staff member.
