(KNSI) – A traffic light will be removed in downtown St. Cloud and replaced with a four-way stop. During Monday’s meeting, St. Cloud’s city council approved the change at 8th Avenue and West St. Germain Street.
In September, the council took public comment on whether to keep the stoplight or replace it with something else. According to the city, the majority of the comments supported removing the traffic signal. The removal of the traffic signal will result in additional on-street parking spaces.
The cost to remove the traffic light is $15,000. The light needs to be replaced or taken down. The price for removing the light is less than putting up and maintaining a new light.
