(KNSI) — A 56-year-old Clearwater man is dead after a crash Monday morning in Lynden Township.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says about 6:30 a.m., a deputy came across a crash on County Road 45 shortly after it happened. A press release says Donald Zwilling was going north on 45 and was out of his truck inspecting front end damage from a suspected car-deer crash when a pickup truck driven by 37-year-old Jay Kangas of Kimball was going north on 45 and hit the rear end of Zwilling’s truck, which lurched forward, trapping Zwilling underneath.
Kangas’s truck continued past the scene and rolled, coming to a rest on the driver’s side.
Zwilling was pronounced dead at the scene. Kangas sustained minor injuries. Both trucks were heavily damaged.
There was fog in the area at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
