(KNSI) – A 32-year-old former coach and teacher with the Albany School District who admitted having a sexual relationship with a student will not be going to prison.
In July, Daniel Sinclair Fragodt pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct, just as a jury trial was set to get underway. He was sentenced to a stay of imposition for one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and five years of supervised release. The court also ordered him to undergo therapy, attend a sex offender program, and register as a predatory offender.
The 32-year-old from St. Joseph, formally Melrose, admitted having a sexual relationship with a student when she was 17. He was also accused of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old student. According to the criminal complaint, police in Albany started investigating Fragodt in March of 2020. A 14-year-old girl told police he touched her buttocks over her clothing and on her bare leg. The teen also told police Fradogt was having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old. Prosecutors Fragodt started a relationship with the older girl in September of 2017.
The teen admitted that two had sexual contact at the school, a park, and a ride in St. Joseph and other areas around Albany.
Fragdot taught math and coached girls’ basketball, track and field, and cross country. He resigned shortly after being charged.
