(KNSI) – The Storm Prediction Center says central Minnesota is in the slight risk category for severe weather Thursday afternoon.

An area of thunderstorms is expected to develop in the mid to late afternoon hours ahead of a cold front. Forecasters say the environment is supportive of supercells capable of hail and damaging winds. Those supercells will form a line that will march across the state from the evening and into the overnight hours. Those storms are not expected to be severe.

The National Weather Service says you have a way to get weather warnings today, especially if you plan to be outside.
