(KNSI) — The King’s Inn on Highway 10 in Rice burned down on Sunday morning.

According to Sauk Rapids Fire Chief Jason Fleming, several 911 calls came in about the fire around 9:00. Due to the rural location, Fleming says fire departments from Sartell, Rice, and Sauk Rapids all worked to put the fire out. Crews also drew water out of Little Rock Lake. Firefighters not only had to fight the fire but, he says there was also concern about water from the fire draining back into the lake.

Fleming says the condition of the building, which had been vacant since the early 2000s, kept firefighters on an exterior attack, and the state fire marshal’s office is being called in to investigate the cause of the blaze as local fire crews deemed it too unsafe to go inside.

There were no reports of any injuries.
