(KNSI) – An unbelted teenager from St. Cloud was hurt in a rollover
accident in Fairhaven Township.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was called to the intersection of 28th Avenue and 195th Street around 2 p.m. on Monday for a crash.
Deputies say 16-year-old Jack Rice was headed south on 28th Avenue in a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado as he attempted to turn eastbound onto 195th Street. Investigators say the truck left the roadway and rolled before coming to rest in the south ditch.
Rice and his passenger, 16-year-old Brennan Ylinen, were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Ylinen was transported by Mayo Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s office says speed was a factor in the crash.
