(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health reports 1,912 new COVID-19 cases and six new deaths from the disease on Friday. That brings Minnesota’s cumulative COVID death count to 7,799.
New positive cases reported today include 157 found around the five-county St. Cloud area: 11 in Benton, 14 in Morrison, 35 in Sherburne, 41 in Stearns and 56 in Wright.
The state processed 37,424 COVID tests on Thursday, with 5.1 percent of those tests returning positive results.
A growing number of Minnesotans are being hospitalized for COVID. The latest data from the MDH shows 590 Minnesotans are in the hospital due to COVID; 166 are receiving intensive care.
Meanwhile, Minnesota is just shy of having 3.3 million residents who have gotten at least one COVID vaccine shot. At a total of 3,299,990 people with at least one vaccine dose, that’s 59.3 percent of the state’s total population and 70.2 percent of Minnesotans age 12 and older.
