(KNSI) – The National Weather Service has extended a severe thunderstorm watch to include Stearns County.
The watch was initially issued for west central and southwest Minnesota. The closest county to the St. Cloud area was Kandiyohi County. The watch area has now expanded to include Meeker and Stearns Counties.
Central Minnesota was pummeled with severe weather early Tuesday morning as high winds and small hail were reported. That followed Friday’s severe weather with three tornado touchdowns near Belgrade, Brooten and Elrosa in western Stearns County.
The current watch is in effect until 3:00 p.m.
