(KNSI) – Police say a dispute led to a man’s vehicle getting hit by gunfire while he drove through a St. Cloud intersection.

Police say around 3:15 on Sunday afternoon, an 18-year-old reported being followed by another driver and getting shot at while going through the intersection of 6th Street North and 10th Avenue North. The victim wasn’t hurt, but the vehicle was hit by at least one bullet.

Police say the suspect is an acquaintance of the victim and had been involved in a dispute with the victim’s family earlier in the day. Investigators say the suspect leaned out of his vehicle and fired multiple shots at the victim. According to police, immediately after the shooting, the suspect left the area in his vehicle.

Officers collected evidence of a shooting, including damage to the victim’s car consistent with a gunshot. Through the course of the investigation, a 20-year-old suspect was identified. The suspect was found in Minnetonka and arrested without incident. He’s been transported to the Stearns County Jail, where he was held until charges are filed.

KNSI News doesn’t identify suspects until they’re formally charged.
