(KNSI) – Colleges and universities around the state, including St. Cloud State and the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University have already said staff, faculty, students, and visitors must wear a mask indoors, with some exceptions, but local school districts have yet to make such an announcement.
St. Cloud Area School District 742 is asking parents what they think.
An email sent to parents in the district and obtained by KNSI shows Superintendent Willie Jett asking for their input regarding a mask policy for back to school.
Parents are asked which school their child attends, which grade they are in, and gives three options: I prefer my child wear a mask, I prefer my child not wear a mask, and we will do whatever is recommended by the district.
There is also a third question about distance learning options, saying, “If the Minnesota Department of Education were to approve an Online Learning option for St. Cloud Area Schools, indicate the likelihood that your family would choose this option for the fall.” That is followed by the choices of very likely, likely, unlikely, or very unlikely.
Parents have until Monday, August 16th to complete the survey. District 742 officials say they will announce their recommendations at their August 18th meeting.
