(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health reports 936 new cases of COVID-19 statewide on Wednesday.
New cases include 57 found in the five-county St. Cloud area: six in Benton County, two in Morrison County, nine in Sherburne County, 16 in Stearns County and 24 in Wright County.
Those new infections were found out of 18,490 COVID tests processed on Tuesday. The one-day test positivity rate is 5 percent, matching the MDH’s caution threshold level for significant community spread of the virus.
There are now 268 people hospitalized for COVID in Minnesota, 20 more patients than Tuesday’s count. The MDH also confirms five new coronavirus deaths.
Meanwhile, 67.5 percent of Minnesotans 12 and older have received at least their first dose of the COVID vaccine. In MDH’s latest update on breakthrough cases — when people who are fully vaccinated catch COVID — Minnesota has seen fewer than 5,000 of those cases over the course of the year.
