(KNSI) – An 86-year-old man who became lost after crashing his car in Stearns County was found by a bloodhound.

The sheriff’s office says they began looking for Ambrose Gertken around 10:30 on Wednesday morning after his car was found in a drainage ditch in the 12000-block of 130th Avenue in St. Wendel Township.

A search was conducted using the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office U.A.V. (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and the Sheriff’s Office K9 Bloodhound, Storm.

Storm was able to lead authorities to Gertken, who was found sitting under a tree, alert and conscious.

Gertken was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance.

Deputies say Gertken had put his vehicle in the ditch and tried to walk back to his home when he became lost and disorientated.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mayo Ambulance and the Minnesota DNR.
