(KNSI) – Road construction season in St. Cloud has begun as several resurfacing projects start, and other planned improvements continue.
There are 11 street closures in St. Cloud, leading to motorists needing a little extra time to get around and look for alternative routes.
St. Cloud Public Services Director Tracy Hodel says a couple of things they consider before resurfacing a street.
“one of the key things that we look at is obviously condition, but we also look at traffic volume, whenever we’re spending, you know, public money, we want to make sure that it’s going the farthest that we possibly can, and most people are able to get value out of the work that we do.”
Seven of the road closures are due to resurfacing work, and four are for other projects.
Hodel says whenever they start thinking about a road project, there are several things to consider.
“Is there opportunities to make improvements, ease of flow, reduce traffic congestion, and improve safety. Every time those factors are looked at and incorporated into the project before we get the final design out.”
Some of the projects currently underway include work on 33rd Avenue South, County Road 136, Hadrian Road, and 18th Avenue North.
