(KNSI) – Cleanup is underway after a 2,000 pound container of flaxseed oil ruptured and spilled into the parking lot at the Pilot Travel Center Tuesday morning.
According to a critical incident report from the St. Cloud fire department, about 9:20 crews responded to the spill and said that the oil went down a storm drain and out into the Mississippi River. Firefighters contained some of the oil in the parking lot and laid down booming in the river to control the spread of the leak.
A cleanup contractor has been called in to assist.
