(KNSI) – Minnesota confirmed fewer than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 between Monday and Friday, showing that cases are still on the decline as more than half of the state’s population has gotten vaccinated.
In the past week, 823 people have tested positive for COVID in the state, including 71 in the five-county St. Cloud area. There have also been 31 more COVID-related deaths, including one Morrison County resident and one Wright County resident who were both in their 60s.
The COVID-19 test positivity rate for this week is 1.3 percent.
Across the state, 184 people are hospitalized for COVID-19. Forty-nine of those patients are in the ICU.
So far, 2,985,441 Minnesotans have gotten at least one COVID vaccine dose. This includes 32 percent of 12-to-15-year-olds, the most recent age group to become eligible for the vaccine. Vaccination among Minnesotans 65 and older with at least one dose is at 90 percent. Overall, 63.5 percent of eligible Minnesotans have received at least one dose, and 57.8 percent are now fully vaccinated.
