(KNSI) – The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the person who died after they stepped in front of a passing car on Highway 169 Monday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, about 1:10 a.m., a Chevy Impala, driven by 19-year-old Brady Alan Puchalla was of Princeton was heading north on 169 near Zimmerman when 19-year-old Joshua Theodore William Bartlett, also of Princeton, walked out of the median and into the left lane of traffic where he was hit and killed.

Police say Puchalla was not under the influence and was wearing his seatbelt. The state patrol says he was not injured in the crash.

Bartlett was also not under the influence at the time of the crash.

It is unclear why Bartlett walked out into traffic.
