(KNSI) – If you wanted to head to one of the seven wading pools in St. Cloud for some relief from the heat, the City of St. Cloud says the wading pools will be closed for the remainder of the summer.

Sources with the city say part of the reason is there are no lifeguards to staff them. The state ended the masking and capacity mandate too late to budget for pool operations like salaries for the lifeguards.

There are several splash pads open to cool off.

The Lake George splash pad at Eastman Park, the Riverside Park splash pad, and the Westwood Park splash pad are all operational from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday, with some exceptions.

The Lake George splash pad at Eastman Park will close at 5:00 p.m. Wednesdays when Summertime By George is held. When school is in session, the Westwood Park splash pad will operate from 3:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
