(KNSI) – The nine-year-old girl who was shot while jumping on a trampoline in a Minneapolis backyard has died.
Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder says Trinity Ottoson Smith died from her injuries Thursday afternoon. She was seriously injured when she was playing with friends the evening of May 15th. Investigators believe she was caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting.
Trinity, six-year-old Aniya Allen, and ten-year-old Ladavionne Garrett Junior of St. Cloud were all shot in Minneapolis within days of each other. Aniya was sitting in the backseat of her mother’s car near 35th and Penn Avenues North eating a Happy Meal from McDonald’s when she was shot May 17th. She died a few days later. Ladavionne was with his mom and dad on a visit to see his grandmother on April 30th when he was shot.
Ladavionne and Trinity reportedly had their hospital rooms at North Memorial Medical Center right next door to each other.
A $30,000 reward was announced this week for information leading to the arrest of the shooting suspects. Elder says police have gotten several tips, but no arrests have been made.
