(KNSI) – A man was hurt Saturday night after his pickup left the road, went through a fence and snapped a utility pole near Belgrade.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol is considered a factor in the crash, which happened around 9:30 p.m. on County Road 32 in Crow River Township, several miles northeast of the city. It remains under investigation.
Deputies say the 24-year-old Starbuck man was heading west in a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado that went into the north ditch, through a barbed wire fence and into a utility pole, shearing it off at the base. The truck came to rest in a pasture.
Dispatchers first received an automatic crash-detection alert from the area, followed by a 911 call from the driver. He was alone in the truck. The airbags deployed, and the truck was heavily damaged.
He was taken to CentraCare-Paynesville Hospital for treatment.
Belgrade police, Belgrade Fire and Rescue and Glacial Ridge Ambulance also responded.
