Kitten Stolen From Tri-County Humane Society in St. Cloud; Shelter Asks for Help

(KNSI) – The Tri-County Humane Society is asking the public for help finding a young kitten taken from its St. Cloud animal shelter, and says it will not press charges if he is returned right away.

Staff say a visitor took two-month-old Marin out of his kennel, put him in a bag and left the building. Volunteers noticed the person handling the kitten and then leaving the cat room in a hurry, and found his kennel empty. Security video confirmed what happened. It was Marin’s first day back at the shelter after a stay in foster care.

Marin had been recovering from severe ulcers that wore through the surface of both eyes. His treatment included pain medication, antibiotics and two kinds of eye drops, one of them a serum made from blood donated by one of the shelter’s dogs. The humane society says he has improved a lot but still needs ongoing care, including those serum drops.

The shelter says Marin is easy to identify by his coloring and cloudy eyes, and he is microchipped under the humane society’s name. It does not plan to release the video publicly.
