(KNSI) – A Pink Floyd tribute, a Shakespeare tragedy and one of the most popular musicals ever written are all on the October calendar at the Paramount Center for the Arts in downtown St. Cloud.

The month opens with a familiar favorite. The Fabulous Armadillos return October 2nd and 3rd with Floydian Slip, a show built around the music of Pink Floyd.

St. Cloud State University takes the stage October 5th with Journey Across the World, an evening of music and culture. The next night, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men theater company brings Shakespeare’s Othello to the Paramount. TEDxStCloud follows on October 8th with an evening of local speakers and big ideas.

The biggest run of the month belongs to GREAT Theatre. Its production of Les Misérables opens October 16th and continues through November 1st. The musical follows Jean Valjean, a former prisoner searching for redemption during the upheaval of 19th-century France.

For people who would rather make art than watch it, the Paramount’s Visual Arts Studios are offering more than a dozen hands-on classes in October. Options range from printmaking, wood carving and quilting to porcelain flower sculpting, fused glass birds and a class on drawing faces. Writers can sign up for an introductory memoir workshop on October 24th, and watercolor artist Catherine Hearding leads a workshop October 17th.

Arts Underground also continues Thursday evenings. The drop-in program lets people try a creative project for $10 per person.

Between shows and classes, visitors can browse the Paramount’s three gallery spaces and gift shop, which feature rotating exhibits and work by local and regional artists.
