Four Central Minnesota High School Games Will Raise Money For Cancer

(KNSI) – Four central Minnesota high school games this school year will double as cancer fundraisers, with Becker football joining an effort in Sartell that organizers say has brought in more than $30,000 over the past three years.

Money from merchandise sales, raffle tickets and donations at every game is split between two organizations. The Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund pays for cancer research, prevention and treatment in Minnesota. The TriUnity Foundation, a national fund started by St. Cloud Financial Credit Union, works to erase debt for people and families dealing with terminal illness, including cancer.

The Bulldogs host their Tackle Cancer game September 18th. Becker will also use the night to mark the final season of head coach Dwight Lundeen, who is retiring after 57 years leading the program. Lundeen has backed cancer research and events like the Tackle Cancer game throughout his tenure.

Fans at the game will be entered in a drawing for three prizes, handed out at halftime. Pink Becker Bulldogs shirts are on sale at Becker High School and will also be sold at the game.

The Sabres are running three games for the fourth school year. Sartell’s Tackle Cancer football game is September 25th, volleyball’s Dig Pink night is October 13th and boys hockey’s Stick it to Cancer night is January 12th.

Fans at each of the three games will be entered in a drawing for three prizes. Pink Sartell Sabres shirts are available at the Sartell Activities Office, with shirts, jerseys, hats and other items sold at the games.

St. Cloud Financial Credit Union and St. Cloud Subaru are sponsoring all four games.
