Wildfire Smoke Challenges Pets Too

(KNSI) – With tens of thousand of acres of forest still burning in northern Minnesota, smokey skies will likely continue to be a feature of this summer’s weather.

Kate Kompas, marketing and communications manager at the Tri County Humane Society, says pets, like humans, need to take extra precautions to stay safe. Shorter walks and potty breaks may be necessary. Kompas says special attention should be paid to dogs with short noses, like bulldogs, and well as senior dogs.

She also recommended paying special attention to air quality numbers this time of year.
