(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University has restructured its academic colleges, moving from five colleges down to three as part of a broader effort to align programs with regional workforce needs.

The university created three new colleges, each built around a distinct focus area. The College of Arts and Sciences groups the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences together, with an emphasis on critical thinking and foundational coursework. The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences combines programs in education, health and human services. The College of Business, Engineering, and Technology brings together business, engineering and technology programs geared toward applied learning and industry partnerships.

University officials say the goal is to reduce complexity for students and make it easier to connect coursework across related fields.

As part of the change, advising, career development and student success resources will now be organized within each of the three colleges rather than spread across five, according to the university.

SCSU has not announced changes to specific majors, minors or degree programs as a result of the restructuring.
