(KNSI) – A Waite Park company has a new way to take some of the hassle out of back-to-school shopping.
Impacks announced Tuesday the launch of an artificial intelligence tool called the KitGenie, which lets parents build a customized school supply kit by uploading or photographing their child’s classroom supply list. The company says its image-analysis technology reads the items and quantities a teacher requested and assembles a set of name-brand supplies that ships free to the door, a process the company says takes under five minutes.
The tool is available now at thekitgenie.com, ahead of the 2026 back-to-school season.
The launch marks a shift for Impacks, which has spent the past six years building grade-specific kits through partnerships with schools and districts. The company says the new product extends that service to any parent in the country, regardless of whether their school works with Impacks. The company says parents can remove items they already have at home before checkout.
Cost is part of the pitch. Impacks says its average kit runs about $66. The National Retail Federation reported in 2025 that the average American family spends more than $140 on school supplies each year.
