(KNSI) – A Mexican restaurant that operated in one of downtown St. Cloud’s most recognizable historic buildings has closed for good, and the property is now for sale.
Tequilatown Club and Latin Cuisine, which opened in the former D.B. Searle’s building on 5th Avenue in March of 2024, is permanently closed. The restaurant shut its doors in June of 2025 for what its owners described at the time as renovations, and it never reopened. The building has been listed for sale since at least February.
Around the same time the St. Cloud location went dark, the restaurant opened a second spot in Grove City.
The closure adds another chapter to a building that has cycled through several owners and restaurant concepts. Most recently known as D.B. Searle’s, the three-story bar and restaurant operated under the Barth family, who bought it in May of 2012. Owner Andy Barth ceased operations in March of 2018 and sold to Inventure Properties.
The space later became Searles on Fifth Ave, opened by Darin and Michelle Agnew in February of 2020, just three weeks before COVID-19 lockdowns began.
The couple closed the restaurant permanently in June of 2022, citing repeated pandemic shutdowns, lost financial footing, and health issues, including a heart attack and a serious car accident. Because the business had been open less than six months before the pandemic hit, it did not qualify for most relief programs.
