(KNSI) – Drivers who use Highway 15 through St. Cloud should plan for overnight delays next week as the Minnesota Department of Transportation begins a nighttime resurfacing project.
The work runs from Highway 23 (Division Street) in St. Cloud to just north of the Bridge of Hope in Sauk Rapids. Crews start Monday, June 22nd, and will work overnight through the morning of Wednesday, June 24th. Work will take place each night between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
MnDOT says motorists should expect alternating lane closures in both directions. The resurfacing work will be done in segments, so the work zone will shift along the corridor as crews progress.
MnDOT is urging drivers to slow down and stay alert in the work zones, particularly at night when visibility is reduced, and to watch for workers and heavy equipment. The agency reminds motorists to obey posted speed limits, noting the fine for speeding in a work zone is $300. The agency also advises drivers to expect delays during peak travel times, avoid unnecessary lane changes and never enter a road blocked by barriers or cones.
All work is weather-dependent, and the schedule could change.
Once the project wraps up, MnDOT says drivers will notice a smoother ride along that stretch of Highway 15.
