(KNSI) – The Sartell Police Activities League is back for the summer, this time with a new format built around three special events rather than its usual weekly schedule.
The program, known as PAL, gives youth ages five to 15 the chance to connect with Sartell Police officers through games, activities and community engagement. All three events are free.
The season opens Wednesday, June 24th, with Color Wars at Val Smith Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The action moves indoors Wednesday, July 15th, for Open Gym at the Sartell Community Center, also running 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The summer wraps up Wednesday, August 19th, with a Movie in the Park at Val Smith Park, starting at dusk. Police say the movie title and exact start time for that final event will be announced closer to the date.
Organizers say PAL is about more than the activities themselves. The goal is to build trust between young people and police by letting officers and youth interact in a relaxed setting. Police say they want to create a welcoming environment where kids can get to know officers as people, build positive relationships and feel comfortable turning to law enforcement when they need help.
