(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking public input on several proposed fishing regulations. The proposed regulations are either new or intended to change existing experimental and special fishing regulations for the 2027 fishing season.
These regulations would address numerous fish species across several counties. Species include sunfish in Pleasant Lake in Stearns County and Cedar Lake in Wright County, and walleye and minnows in Mink and Somers lakes, both in Wright County. Northern pike in the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area mine pits in Crow Wing County are also included.
Notifications regarding the proposed changes have been posted at the access points on each lake included in the proposal. The DNR will accept input through an online questionnaire until Wednesday, September 30. Participants can also submit comments directly to the appropriate area fisheries office by email, mail or phone. Contact information for each office can be found on the area fisheries office webpage.
Public meetings will be held in September to discuss the proposals and accept comments. Details will be posted on the DNR website by August 15.
