(KNSI) – The future of health at St. Cloud CentraCare is looking incredibly bright.
The hospital hosted an open house on Thursday, June 11, for its new, three-story expansion, allowing guests to explore and take guided tours of the new areas. Among these spaces, as part of the expansion, are neurosciences, a MedSpa, and surgery and orthopedics, totaling 225,000 square feet.
Dave Larson, vice president of facilities management, said the expansion is the largest undertaken since the building opened in 2001. “The services that are provided here are an expansion of our ambulatory surgery center. We’re growing so many services because we need to serve our community with a greater sense of purpose than we can with our existing square footage.”
The expansion, according to Larson, was largely driven by CentraCare, noting the state of certain clinics, such as Tria, and drawing inspiration for the new addition. Larson further noted that some of their patients at the time were driving as far as the Twin Cities to receive treatments that CentraCare lacked.
Lori Mader, senior director of orthopedics, is similarly feeling the benefits of the new spaces. In addition to more room, other advantages of the facility’s orthopedic floor include the ability for patients to get X-rays on the same floor as the center, rather than on a separate one. Also included are new rooms for in-clinic procedures. Mader added that a new hand surgeon will be joining them in August and hopes for more additions in the next few years.
Larson added that more spaces will likely be coming to CentraCare soon, noting that if there’s one thing people should know about the company, it’s that they never stop.
