(KNSI) – A day of connection, barbecues and family fun for all ages is set to make a big splash at Eastman Park next Friday.

The 30th annual St. Cloud Juneteenth Celebration will be held at the park, located near Lake George, from noon to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19. The celebration commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Though celebrated since the late 19th century, Juneteenth was not officially recognized as a national holiday until 2021, when then-President Joe Biden signed it into law.

The day will be filled with activities for kids and adults alike. A Kid Zone will feature games and crafts, and food trucks will serve delicious eats and drinks to attendees. Fishing and paddleboat rides will also be available. Returning competitions include the 5th Annual Grill Off Competition and the 2nd Annual Dominoes Tournament.

Live music will be provided by several artists, including DJ Rellek, King Ty & Friends, VonBoi, the Emancipation Proclamation Band and the Higher Ground Church of God in Christ Choir. Groups from Elevate Dance Center and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota will also perform.

Local businesses and nonprofits will be on site to share resources and provide community support, and vendors will offer giveaways throughout the event. A full list of activities can be found here.
