(KNSI) — Today marks the Phase One launch of the new Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ licensing system for hunters, anglers and boaters.
The new system will allow outdoor enthusiasts to purchase licenses and permits through a new DNR mobile app or in person from a licensing agent. Users can then download their licenses to a mobile device for instant use or print a physical paper copy. Cell service is needed to download the app, but not to store or display purchased licenses and permits.
Phase Two will allow hunters to validate and register harvests via the app or on paper through a licensed agent. Physical harvest tags will no longer be required.
“The Minnesota DNR is excited to introduce a modern licensing system designed to improve the experience for Minnesotans and visitors alike,” says DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen. “The new system will allow users to enjoy more outdoor opportunities through convenient, flexible and user-friendly tools.”
The DNR will post updates about the new system on its website here.
