(KNSI) – Dawn Nyhus has announced her candidacy for the position of county attorney of Sherburne County.
Nyhus, who has served 18 years in the county attorney’s office, was originally appointed to the position in May 2025. She initially joined as a criminal prosecutor in 2008, focusing on both gross misdemeanor and felony offenses, with a case emphasis on sexual assault and other serious person crimes.
“I am committed to collaborating with law enforcement to ensure a high level of public safety for the people of Sherburne County,” said Nyhus. “I am also invested in the responsible delivery of services and the effective legal representation of county stakeholders.”
Nyhus has also served as an assistant county attorney in the criminal division and as a lead assistant county attorney in both the criminal and civil divisions. Before joining Sherburne County, she was a special assistant county attorney for Anoka County and an assistant county attorney for Mille Lacs County.
