(KNSI) – Great River Regional Library has added something new to its collection, one destined to light up the face of any local gamer.
The newest addition includes 24 Nintendo Switch titles, including fan favorites like Animal Crossing, Super Mario Party and Luigi’s Mansion. According to Senior Circulation Assistant Jennifer Thompson, the library had been looking to add video games to its collection for a few years and said the present was the perfect time to do so.
Thompson said that while the selected games are not strictly educational, they were nonetheless chosen for their diverse digital literacy components, such as reading comprehension. “Digital literacy covers a pretty broad spectrum, and having some of those pieces in there makes it a cool element.”
Despite the addition being brand-new, Thompson hopes it will not only gain popularity at the library but also lead to more titles being added across different platforms, including the Nintendo Wii.
