(KNSI) – Sentry Bank is putting its stamp of approval on the locker room suites at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

The St. Cloud City Council is set to vote Monday on accepting a $75,000 sponsorship from the bank, with payments of $15,000 per year over five years. The money will help fund operations at the MAC, the city-owned facility that hosts youth, high school, amateur and junior level hockey, among other sports.

Community Services and Facilities Director Scott Zlotnik is recommending the council approve the deal, which was secured by Infinit Technologies, a firm the MAC team brought in to hunt for sponsorship dollars without any upfront cost to the city. Under a separate resolution also up for a vote, Infinit Technologies would receive a 20% commission, or $3,000 a year for five years, paid out of the MAC’s operating fund. If Sentry Bank ever misses an annual payment, the city would not owe the commission for that year.

City staff note the arrangement is leaner than what other Minnesota communities have agreed to. St. Cloud’s deal carries no monthly fee and no upfront costs.

The MAC has leaned increasingly on private sponsorships in recent years. In August, the council accepted a $100,000 sponsorship from the St. Cloud Youth Hockey Association for the MAC’s dryland training area. In November of 2024, the council took in $40,000 from the youth hockey association and McDowall Company for scoreboard upgrades at Torrey Arena.

Staff say if the city pursues additional MAC sponsorship deals in the future, it will likely go through a formal request-for-proposal process.
