(KNSI) – Paynesville is making a new pitch to weekend travelers.
The Paynesville Area Chamber of Commerce has launched Explore Paynesville, a tourism website and marketing campaign aimed at drawing visitors to the city’s lakes, trails, and downtown businesses.
Chamber Executive Director Jacob Bertram says the project has been about five years in the making and was built in partnership with the city, Paynesville Township, and local lodging establishments. “The biggest thing we want to promote is the location of Paynesville, halfway between Willmar and St. Cloud, definitely a relatively short time from the Twin Cities area up to the rural area up here.”
The website highlights amenities, including the recreational trail around Lake Koronis, island camping on Second Island, a craft brewery, city parks, a classic movie theater, golf, and boat and jet ski rentals. Bertram says the chamber is also hoping to eventually connect the Lake Koronis trail to the state Glacial Lakes Trail, which would create a continuous biking route from Willmar through Paynesville to St. Cloud.
Bertram told KNSI News the new webpage is a tool for travelers. “We’re just hoping that this new website kind of gets more information out there, and we’ll continue to put different advertising in the area for visitors to learn about us and put us on the map.”
Visitors planning a trip this summer can also catch the city’s Town and Country Days festival June 17th through the 19th, which will feature a carnival, a community parade, and a free concert.
