(KNSI) – A 64-year-old Holdingford man was hospitalized after a trench wall collapsed on him in rural Morrison County.

The sheriff’s office says deputies were called to a residence off 70th Avenue in Elmdale Township, about three miles east of Upsala, just before 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Andrew Langner had entered the trench to cut a waterline when one of the side walls gave way, trapping him inside.

Deputies and crews from Upsala Fire and Rescue worked to free Langner from the trench.

He was then flown to St. Cloud Hospital by North Memorial Air Care. The extent of his injuries has not been released.
