The Household Hazardous Waste truck will stop at the Greenwald Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 6. Residents will have the opportunity to drop off unused hazardous materials that cannot be thrown out with regular garbage. All accepted products can be disposed of free of charge through Stearns County’s Environmental Services Department.

Acceptable items include paints, stains, fluorescent bulbs, Christmas lights and poisons, among others. Items such as motor oil, antifreeze, medical waste and tires cannot be accepted through the Household Hazardous Waste Program.

The event is part of a broader series of stops the truck makes around Stearns County during the summer months. Residents who are unable to attend may drop off items at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Waite Park, which is open from 7 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. year-round.
