(KNSI) – Local children and teenagers will have the chance to soar through the skies this Saturday morning as the Young Eagles aviation program offers free airplane rides designed to spark interest in flying among the next generation.

The St. Cloud Young Eagles chapter will provide flights for youth ages 8 to 17 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at St. Cloud Sky Central Airport. The program currently has around 30 open spots available. Parents must pre-register their children online, and a parent or legal guardian must be present at the event to sign a required consent form. Signs at the airport will direct families to designated parking. Pets are not allowed.

The Young Eagles program launched nationally in 1992 with a mission to introduce young people to aviation through their first flight experience. Since its inception, more than 2 million children and teenagers across the United States have participated.

Families with questions can contact coordinator Chip Sauers at 320-248-8384, Ryan Rask at 763-219-6031, or email chip2003@charter.net.
