(KNSI) – Minnesota bear hunters have until the end of the day to get their applications in for a license.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has applications for the 2026 season online, at any license agent, or by phone at 888-665-4236. People can also apply for preference only, meaning they don’t get a license this year but improve their odds in future lotteries.
The DNR has 5,330 licenses available across the 15 bear permit areas for the season, which opens September 1st and closes October 18th.
The DNR will mail notifications to lottery winners by Monday, June 1st. Applicants can also check results on the DNR website.
An unlimited number of bear licenses will be sold over the counter for the no-quota area that includes east-central and far northwest Minnesota. Those tags are only allowed in the no-quota zone.
