(KNSI) – A skid loader caught fire in a field near Melrose.

The Stearns County dispatch received the call just before 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, reporting a skid loader on fire in a field south of 35397 375th Avenue in Getty Township.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and Melrose Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Investigators determined that 75-year-old Robert Paul Pflipsen of Albany was using a 2024 John Deere 333P skid loader when it began to smoke and the engine burst into flames.

Melrose firefighters put the blaze out. No injuries were reported.
