(KNSI) – Sauk Rapids-Rice School District is getting ready to showcase some of its brightest young talent Friday night with the 11th annual Stars of the Storm event.

The evening kicks off at 6:00 p.m. at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School, where visitors can explore a visual arts display featuring student work from kindergarten through 12th grade, watch a robotics demonstration, and browse a silent auction. The district’s nationally recognized culinary team will also be on hand serving treats, and both the DECA store and the Storm Brew coffee area will be open during that first hour.

Then at 7:00 p.m., the action moves to the performing arts center, where students who made it through an audition process will take the stage to sing, dance, and play instruments. The lineup includes performers from every grade level across the district.

The event is also a fundraiser for the Sauk Rapids-Rice Education Foundation, which has awarded more than $130,000 in classroom grants to staff members over the years. Those grants have funded everything from STEM and technology projects to hiring a composer to write original music for student performing groups.

Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults. You can buy them online or pick them up at the door. KNSI’s Bob Hughes will be MC’ing the event.
