(KNSI) — A garden-themed event is coming up Saturday as part of Earth Week.

The Tri-County Solid Waste Commission is hosting the Swap, Don’t Shop event on April 18th from 10:00 to 1:00 at the Sherburne History Center.

Items such as gently used garden tools, decorations, watering cans, flower pots or wagons can be dropped off ahead of time at Stearns County Environmental Services, Sherburne County Planning and Zoning or Farm Friends Barn through Friday during regular business hours. Items must be in working order, clean, and free of odors and rust. Then on Saturday, they can be swapped for something new to you.

The event also includes a plate-to-garden composting demonstration to learn how to reduce food waste and turn kitchen scraps into compost. Free compost will also be available while supplies last.

Questions can be directed to the Tri-County Solid Waste Management Commission at 320-257-8606.
