(KNSI) – Kids and teens can ride Metro Bus for free all summer. All they need is an ID.
The U-Go Free Summer Youth Program runs June 1st through August 31st and covers unlimited rides on all fixed routes for anyone 17 and younger. The program, now a recurring offering, is designed to give young people a way to get around the St. Cloud metro area independently during the months when school is out.
To ride, youth need a school ID, a digital student ID on their phone, a Metro Bus U-Go Free card or another valid photo ID. Riders who look older than 17 may be asked to show proof of their date of birth. Each rider needs to carry their own ID or device because sharing a phone screen between passengers isn’t allowed.
Group leaders who work with youth programs can also register for a U-Go Free ID card to simplify group travel.
Metro Bus offers free travel training for first-time riders and has how-to-ride videos available in English, Spanish and Somali on its website.
