(KNSI) – The cause of a fire at Westwood Elementary School on Tuesday morning is under investigation.
According to a press release from St. Cloud Area School District 742, all students and staff are safe and successfully evacuated from the building and are in a designated area. Emergency crews remained on scene as of 9:45, and the situation is under control.
Parents and guardians are being asked to stay away from the area for now to keep the roads clear for emergency vehicles.
The building is being assessed, and the district says updates will be provided as soon as possible regarding whether students will return to class or if early dismissal and pickup procedures will be taken.
