(KNSI) -The St. Cloud community showed up in a big way on Friday for the 16th annual Pack the Porches food and fund drive, to benefit Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf.
The event collected 6,615 pounds of food and $24,665 in donations in six hours. The drive featured curbside drop-off locations at Pioneer Place on Fifth in St. Cloud, St. Cloud Hyundai in Waite Park, and St. Cloud Financial Credit Union in Sartell. Donations were also accepted directly at Catholic Charities Emergency Services, and supporters could give online.
Coborn’s sweetened the impact by matching all food donations up to $15,000.
“Pack the Porches is such an important part of the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, and we’re grateful for everyone who shows up to support their neighbors,” said Eric Vollen, Emergency Services Program Manager at Catholic Charities. “March donations go even further, helping us stretch every gift to meet the growing need in our community. This event is a powerful reminder of our community’s generosity and the partners who make it possible.”
All food and funds collected support the Catholic Charities Food Shelf, which serves residents throughout the greater St. Cloud area.
