(KNSI) – A Morrison County deputy arrested a Wadena man after a traffic stop led to the alleged discovery of around 3.5 ounces of methamphetamine.
According to the sheriff’s office, around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, a deputy pulled a vehicle over near the intersection of Highway 10 and 93rd Street in Bellevue Township, north of Royalton, after observing the vehicle cross the center line.
The driver was identified as a 40-year-old man. The deputy found the driver didn’t have a valid license and observed indicators consistent with possible drug activity. The man admitted to having meth on him, but after he arrived at the jail, more of the drug was found. In total, over 3.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine was seized.
The man was placed under arrest and is currently being held at the Morrison County Jail pending formal charges of First Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving after Cancellation-Inimical to Public Safety, and Introduction of Contraband into a Jail.
Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen praised the outcome, saying the arrest was “another successful drug interdiction stop” by his deputies. “I commend our law enforcement personnel for remaining proactive and vigilant in helping keep our communities safe by removing illegal narcotics from our streets,” Larsen said.
