(KNSI) – A new retail concept is now open in the heart of downtown St. Cloud, offering shoppers discounted merchandise, handcrafted French cookies and professional gift wrapping, all under one roof.
Final Sale Liquidation, Better Than Mom’s Macarons, and The Wrapping Room are officially celebrating their grand opening this week inside the Radio City Music Mall, at 619 West St. Germain Street. Co-owners Kris Braegelman and Brandon Fisher launched the concept after Braegelman spent 15 years as a dispatcher for trucking companies. Fisher was a warehouse supervisor. Both decided to leave their jobs and build something of their own. By October of last year, the idea had taken serious shape.
The venture grew out of Fisher’s passion for baking, which developed after his mother taught him the basics of making macarons. He refined the recipe until the cookies became a hit at the St. Cloud Farmers Market. Braegelman says that’s when they knew they had something. “We were only there every other weekend and we were gaining people that literally were only looking for us. So, that’s when it was kind of like, okay maybe we just kind of look to extend it. And that’s kind of when it started.”
Better Than Mom’s Macarons offers the French treat in a wide variety of flavors. And Braegelman doesn’t want anyone to confuse their confections with another similarly sounding cookie. “A macaroon, which is what most Minnesotans say, is a traditional coconut cookie with no filling. And the macaron is a French delicate pastry that has two shells and filling in the middle.”
Custom printing is available for weddings, bridal showers, business events, and grand openings. Flavor requests can be accommodated with advance notice. Macarons will likely only be available Thursday through Sunday to allow time for baking.
Braegelman says the liquidation side of the store carries products from major retailers at a discount. “We literally offer everything new to like-new condition. Sam’s Club, Costco, Target products at a discounted price where you don’t need to have that membership at Sam’s Club or vice versa.”
Current inventory includes Eddie Bauer jackets for $15, children’s snowsuits, clothing priced mostly between $5 and $10, small appliances, home goods, electronics, toys, shoes, and snacks. Product inventory at Final Sale rotates every one to two weeks.
The Wrapping Room rounds out the concept with professional gift wrapping for items purchased in the store or brought in from elsewhere. The business also offers gift storage in a secure vault, with options for pickup or delivery, as well as personal shopping services.
The businesses are open Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday hours are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The store is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Grand opening specials are running throughout the week.
